The Gospel is, We Are | Spring 2021

God declares, "You shall be holy, for I am holy!" (Leviticus 11:44; 1 Peter 1:16) The concept reflected in this declaration is, "As I [God] am, you [my people] shall be." The Bible tells us that to be a Christian is to be "rooted" and united in Christ, through which God's character flows through us and bears "fruit" in how we live. In other words, biblical orthodoxy always leads to faithful orthopraxy. In our fall sermon series, God Is...We are..., we will explore six attributes of God and six corresponding ministry fruits and practical applications that we derive from these divine characteristics. James explains the principle behind this series, "Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only." (James 1:22) God Is...We are... provides us an opportunity to deepen our discipleship, that we might grow both in our knowledge of and intimacy with God and in our understanding that God's attributions aren't relegated to abstract theology but call us to action.
